Poetry
Selected poems from my upcoming collection, The Ashen Songbook, can be found below. The collection is set to be released in 2024.
Triptych
Shamed is how you left me
Buried in wet dew
Split along the middle
By the memory of you
But I was proven right
Drowned in blood that you drew.
Veneer
The morning is early
You scratch the veneer
Dewdrops are pearly
Sunrise is near
Dawn breaks the night’s black
You scrape the veneer
Pushing my soul back
With vile spears
The sun makes the dew dry
You flay the veneer
Lifting my skin up
Proof of past years
Noon brings the young birds
They peck the veneer
Ignoring my dead words
Lungs without air
You left me in a cold field
Rain cleans the veneer
But my wounds stay unhealed
My eyes void of tears
Under high trees they found me
With broken veneer
Leaves scattered around me
And you free and clear.
Vomit
I write my name
In the vomit of your love
I parade my shame
Above, above
My cloudy head
My arms, like lead
My feet, in chains
My heart, in flames.
I write my name
In the vomit of your love
I parade my shame
Above, above
Your convulsing chest
Invade, infest
And let the vomit rush through my veins.
Wolves
Wolves are hungry
Wolves are feared
They’ll eat your heart and drink your tears
Wolves will tear you
Limb from limb
Licking at your nose, your chin
But wolf of forest
Wolf of stream
These are not the wolves I mean
Wolves can be your deepest fears
Wolves can be your closest dears.
